Happy Feet

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are enjoying the Monsoon. Me too enjoying it but sadly the water logging in the streets is taking a toll on my feet. That reminds me, how during the rainy season we need to take extra care of our hands and feet. I think they need our attention not just once every month or whenever we have time to visit the Salon. We actually need to take care of them, every day and treat them special every fortnight . No, You don't have to go to salon everytime, just stock up few essentials and you are good to go.

Basics Required :
1) Nail polish remover - Non acetone
2) A hand towel
3) Essential oil (optional), Olive oil/Baby oil
4) Cotton Balls
5) Common salt, a slice of lemon, and 2 to 3 tablespoon of raw milk
6) Foot and hand cream
7) Pumice stone
8) Manicure and Pedicure tools (they are more or less the same)

Procedure
Step 1: Remove old nail polish, and moisturise your hands/feet , make sure they are not dry.
Step 2: Mix the raw milk and the juice of the lemon and apply it all over your hands/feet, keep it till it is dry and then dab it clean.
P.N: It helps in removing the tan and any discoluration
Step 3: Put warm water in a bowl/tub. Then add some salt,  liquid soap and few drops of essential oils (optional). Dip your hands/feet for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4: Remove  your hands/feet, one by one and then clip, file and buff it neatly. Make sure that there are no debris under the nails. Then lightly scrub and clean your nails with a soft bristled nail brush.
Step 5: Condition the cuticles using essential oil/baby oil/olive oil, then gently push them using a cuticle pusher or an orange woodstick to give a nice shape.
Step 6: Rub with pumice stone underneath your feet to remove dead cells.
Step 7: Wash your hands/feet with water then slather with lotion then massage for 5 minutes. However make sure that before you apply polish, your nails should not be greasy with the lotion.
Step 8: Apply coat of any desired nail polish, let it dry, again apply that coat and apply transparent top coat after the second coat is dry.

Below are some do's that you can add to your daily foot/hand Care routine and it will work wonders.

Apply cuticle oil daily and if it is not available then you can actually apply coconut oil/olive oil/vaseline. And these you can do while you are watching TV at night, or talking to your family.

Apply lotion or body oil to your feet and hand cream before you go to sleep. Try using an anti fungus foot cream during Monsoon.

Use a Pumice stone  in the shower daily to scrub your feet.

Would suggest that if you stay in AC for longer period of your day, then use a hand cream and reapply every couple of hours or whenever your hands are dry.

And trust me with the Manicure and Pedicure kits available in the Market, doing this at home will not only give your feet the much needed attention but you will have some 'ME' time for yourself as well. This might not be possible in a Salon where you are surrounded with people.

So go ahead and flaunt them in style. I shall  see you soon, till then enjoy the RAIN and be gorgeous.

Love
Nabanita.
